Many soft composites have a dull finish. They are usually more porous and have a low heat tolerance (a hot pan could burn the surface). Hard composite sinks are made mainly from quartz and granite. Quartz composite sinks are coloured all the way through, resistant to scratching and non-porous. This material has a high gloss finish resembling porcelain or ceramics and will not fade or scratch. Quartz composite sinks can also withstand temperatures as high as 220 degrees Celsius.
