This mummy-style pie decorated with shortcrust pastry is one of our favorite ideas for Halloween. Not only is it a spooky and original recipe for the occasion, but it’s also super easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • Salt
  • ⅓ cup water
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • ¾ cup blackberries
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 sheets of shortcrust pastry

Preparation

  1. In a saucepan, boil the sugar, cornstarch, a pinch of salt, and water. Add the blueberries and cook until the mixture thickens.
  2. In a bowl, mix the remaining chopped berries with the blueberry mixture. Add the lemon juice and set aside to cool.
  3. Line a round pie dish with one sheet of shortcrust pastry, pressing it against the edges, and fill with the berry mixture. Dot the top with small cubes of butter.
  4. Use the second sheet of pastry to create decorations, and cut the remaining dough into strips to decorate the mummy pie.
  5. Bake the pie at 200°C (390°F) for 10 minutes, then lower the temperature to 180°C (350°F) and bake for an additional 45 minutes. Let cool on a rack before serving.
