When sweet potatoes are calling, but you still want snack-vibes with a bit of luxury, these deluxe sweet potato sticks are the answer. Picture crunchy, golden-brown batons seasoned just right, with that crispy shell you crave and the fluffy sweet potato inside that says “yes, you made the right decision.”
We used the Teka AirFry oven (that magic perforated tray + hot-air function) to get maximum crunch with minimal fuss.
Ingredients
- 2 sweet potatoes
- A pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- 80 ml extra virgin olive oil
- 40 g powdered cheese (or cheese powder)
- ½ red onion
- 5 g fresh parsley
- 100 g cream cheese
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon mustard
Preparation
- Preheat your AirFry oven with the perforated tray inside.
- Peel (if desired) and cut the sweet potatoes into equal-sized sticks.
- In a large bowl, toss the sweet potato sticks with olive oil, oregano, thyme, garlic powder, smoked paprika and a pinch of salt until evenly coated.
- Spread them out in a single layer on the perforated tray (or a well-heated baking tray if using conventional oven).
- Cook for around 30 minutes (or as required), shaking or turning once halfway through, until crisp and golden brown.
- Meanwhile, prepare the sauce: finely chop the red onion and parsley, then mix with cream cheese, mayonnaise and mustard until smooth.
- Once the sticks are crisp, remove from the oven, sprinkle with the powdered cheese, and serve immediately with the sauce on the side (or drizzled over).
Chef's tip!
These deluxe sweet potato sticks make the perfect healthy side, or simply snack solo (we won’t judge). Want more flavour? Try mixing in a little chilli powder or swap the powdered cheese for nutritional yeast if you’re going vegan.
